About May (Miwako)

    May (Miwako) studied Japanese tea ceremony with Professor Soutai Shimizu, an acclaimed tea master of the Urasenke, and was certified as an assistant professor of Japanese tea ceremony in 2015. May was honoured to serve bowls of tea to the notabilities such as a member of the Japanese imperial family, and Kobori Soukei XII, a master of Enshu-ryu chado. As the organizer of “Tea CommuniTea”, She has hosted workshops which include Wagashi (Japanese confectionery)-making and a tea gathering at various places in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. More than 200 tea-and-sweet lovers attended May's monthly workshops.  Now she is ready to introduce the beauty of Wagashi (Japanese confectionery) and the essence of Japanese tea ceremony to Orange County.
